Google SketchUp

When working with Google SketchUp you should always do two things. Open the Firefox internet browser and check below for what you have to complete and open up Sketchup and begin.

Part 1

Needed on the Z-drive, lessons1-6

  1. Open the program Google Sketchup.

  2. Open up lesson1.skp off the Z-drive. And complete worksheet1.

  3. Watch video clips on the basics of Sketchup(3 min) and drawing shapes(6 min)

  4. Open up lesson2.skp off the Z-drive. And show your instructor tab 17 for credit. If you need help, use the Firefox internet browser and to open “flash2.htm” in a new tab. After watching the video, if you still have questions, raise your hand.

  5. Watch video clips on drawing and dividing exact lines(2.5min), push/pull tool and move tool(5 min), drawing an exact rectangle(1.5 min)

  6. Open up lesson3.skp off the Z-drive. And show your instructor tab 10 for credit. If you need help, use the Firefox internet browser and to open “flash3.htm” in a new tab. After watching the video, if you still have questions, raise your hand.

  7. Watch video clips on using the eraser tool and smoothing edges(2 min)

  8. Open up lesson4.skp off the Z-drive. And show your instructor tab 12 for credit. If you need help, use the Firefox internet browser and to open “flash4.htm” in a new tab. After watching the video, if you still have questions, raise your hand.

  9. Watch video clips on push/pull tool review(3.5 min), using the arc tool(4min)

  10. 6) Open up lesson5.skp off the Z-drive. And show your instructor tabs 8, 15, and 16 for credit. If you need help, use the Firefox internet browser and to open “flash5.htm” in a new tab. After watching the video, if you still have questions, raise your hand.

  11. Watch video clips on making selections(4.5 min), and using the paint bucket(4 min)

  12. Open up lesson6.skp off the Z-drive. After repainting the entire kitchen, show your instructor for credit.

Part 2

Needed on the Z-drive coffeetable, lathe, talltable, egg, soundsystem.

  1. Watch lesson over using the freehand tool(1 min)

  2. Open up yourname.skp off the Z-drive and write out your name (first and last) in block letters and color them. Make sure to hold down the ctrl key while drawing, also make sure that the letters are closed (small thin lines) so that they can be pushed or pulled.



  3. Watch video over making polygons(3 min)

  4. NEED Make a tutorial over making several sided polygons(less than 24)

  5. Open “coffeetable.skp” off the Z-drive. Draw out a copy of the table and show your instructor for credit.

  6. Open “lathe.skp” off the Z-drive and show your instructor when completed to receive credit.

  7. Open “talltable.skp” off the Z-drive. Draw out a copy of the table and show your instructor for credit.

  8. Open “egg.skp” off the Z-drive and show your instructor when completed to receive credit.

  10. Start a new file and save it as components.skp. Follow the directions found on this page. Make sure to show your instructor when completed to receive credit.

  11. Open “soundsystem.skp” off the Z-drive and show your instructor when completed to receive credit. Remember you are graded on quality.

  12. Open “car1.skp” off the Z-drive and show your instructor when completed to receive credit. Remember you are graded on quality.

  13. Open “car2.skp” off the Z-drive and show your instructor when completed to receive credit. Remember you are graded on quality.

  14. Open “car3.skp” off the Z-drive and show your instructor when completed to receive credit. Remember you are graded on quality.
